Open Question: Why did a foot rub make my bf so jealous?

My boyfriend Rob is generally sweet and laid-back but lately he?s been getting really jealous about this guy I hang out with at college. I can?t convince him that nothing?s going on. At the same time, I?m not going to let him dictate who I can or can?t be friends with. It?s got to the point where I just don?t know what to do.I do see quite a lot of this other guy, Jack, and we?re definitely good mates. We do the same classes and have other friends in common. I think Rob is jealous of him partly just because he?s big, fit and good-looking. Also, a couple of things have happened that looked a bit bad. Like, there was one time when I?d been walking around all day in these shoes with ridiculously high heels and my feet were killing me. Jack offered to give me a foot rub and I wasn?t sure because I?ve got dead ticklish feet but then I said okay just because I thought it would feel good. It turned out he?s seriously great at massaging feet, but I went a bit red while he was doing it because it tickled like mad and I was trying not to show it! Anyway, while this was going on Rob came into the common room and saw us, and he got really irritated. We ended up arguing and he said that Jack had been telling people he fancied me, and that he was going to get me into bed, but nobody else seems to have heard him say that. He also said that everyone knows Jack has a total foot fetish going on, which sounds ridiculous lol. I said that it was all completely innocent and I don't have feelings for Jack but he said I was either lying to him or to myself. I?m still hanging out with Jack around college and we go out together in a group sometimes, but nothing?s ever happened. I sometimes sit on his knee, or he?ll casually have an arm round me, and it?s just friendly but every time Rob sees it he gets seriously jealous. I?ve let Jack rub my feet a couple of times since too, but I made sure Rob didn?t find out because I knew he?d misinterpret it! So am I going to have to just cut Jack out of my life completely, along with all my other male friends? Or should I finish with Rob or what?!
