Open Question: Why do girls play with their shoes?

My girlfriend cannot EVER stop playing with her shoes. When we're out at tea, she'll take her thongs/flats/even sneakers and strapped shoes off and play with them at the table. When she drives, she takes whatever shoes she is wearing off, at the computer, she plays with them, whenever she's sitting on a chair, she plays with them and whenever she's standing up with enough time to play with them, she does. She even slides her shoes off while standing up and stands there barefoot until she looks down and puts them on, sometimes going to great lengths to do so. It's taken me a while to notice it is a habit and she even mentioned it to me (I'm too embarrassed to ask). I know there are foot fetishes who would be going crazy and no I'm not photographing her in the act or filming her. I just want to know why she does it. I've noticed other girls do it as well, just not as intense.
