Open Question: I'm really mad at my "Friend" What should i do about it/ how do i confront him?

I'm putting this under singles&datinf because i cant get an answer in friends. There seems to be very little people there, however, i know there's a lot of people monitoring singles&dating sooo.. So basically like the whole relationship iv'e been in with this friend, he has just dumped all of his problems on me... given me every last detail and side of his ****** up life. It's annoying as **** and I hate it, but i put up with it because i knew it made him feel better. Now anyways, I recently went with this girl that i really like. Apparently though, he really likes the girl too... I told him that i liked her and wanted to date her, and all that stuff beforehand. I asked her out last week and she said "Yes" and we were planning the first destination for the date. Then all of a sudden she hated me and didn't want anything to do with me. I searched around and found that my friend basically tore us apart because he was jealous that i had "his" girl (she hates him). What he did was he told a good amount of people my whole thing with this girl, but slipped i'm a bunch of ****-filled lies, like i had a foot fetish, and i think she's really annoying and actually hate her. Then all of this people told a bunch of other people until she eventually heard, and now hates me. I think this is completely uncalled for since i can say a whole TON of **** about him WHENEVER i want to. But no, now the girl hates me because of lies, and the whole school thinks i'm a ******* weirdo, just because my depressed friend who has annoyed me for like ~3 years decided to drop **** about me because he was jealous of me, even though iv'e been there for him the last 3 years and haven't said a word about how he should be in a ******* insane asylum, espically after this. What should i do. I'm sorry about the vulgar language, i'm not usually like this - i'm just really mad at the moment.
