I thought my problem was frustrating, but luckily I have not experienced the kind of ?crusade? that some of you have. Unfortunately, foot fetishism is still included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association (DSM-IV) as a paraphrenia, or sexual deviancy, right along with ***** (*****; foot fetishism is known as podophilia), hard core BSDM with potential lethal outcomes, ****, *****, transvestitism, transexualism, statutory and forcible ****, and the like. Ironically homosexuality which is ego syntonic (does not result in symptomatic psychologic conflict and is conducted between consenting adults), was removed from the paraphrenia category several years ago. Only homosexuality involving obvious exploitation or which results in self reports of guilt or neurosis remains diagnosable.

The degree to which foot contact is criminalized was made quite obvious to me several years ago, when I worked as a psychiatrist in a large county ja!l in northern California. I attended a patient there wearing a red jump suit, housed with the aggravated rap!sts, and homocide and mvrder I defendants awaiting trial. His rap: touching the feet of his 14 year old daughter (he could have been helping her tie her shoes).

I became aware of the erotic nature of feet and shoes, stockings and lingerie early in life, as two very attractive aunts at whose house I often stayed after school, had a very large wardrobe of intimate apparel to which no one deprived me access. The smell, feel and texture of these garments often led to masturbation, as early as age 5, as best as I can recall. At no time did I cross-dress, but often fondled. One of these aunts was an intimate apparel buyer for an exclusive clothing store on the east coast where I grew up, and often dressed in intimate apparel, sandals, heels, etc., in my full view, although she was usually dressed for her boyfriends and not for my sake. However, on one or two occasions we played footsie on one of the local beaches which drove me WILD!

Sigmund Freud formulated that a foot fetishist perceived the leg and foot of the mother as a kind of penis, thus reducing any Oedipal anxiety or guilt as a consequence of Oedipal strivings for the mother in that way, if such a predisposed individual felt more comfortable rendering the mother as a homosexual object with a penis rather than a vagina. Since Freud felt that any striving other than penile-vaginal was abnormal, he considered foot fetishists, devotees of cunnilinguis ? fellatio, or anal sex unanalizable and incurable. Yet we know that most psychotherapists do not regard cunnilinguis ? fellatio or anal sex as pathological unless exclusive or not subservient to penile ? vaginal sex most of the time. Even so, the old Masters and Johnson ideal orgasm consisting of pleasurable sensations deep within the female vagina may not be the hallmark of optimal female sexual response, and many females (and males) do not report dissatisfaction with female clitoral arousal and orgasm alone. Generally, if it is between consenting adults, is not exploitative, manipulative, or potentially injurious, the attidude of most sex therapists is ?if it works, don?t fix it?.

A new hypothesis actually relegating foot sensations and in particular odors to a rather mature level of sexual arousal has found experimental support in the finding that sex hormones facilitating arousal and ejaculation, are converted into compounds with characteristic pungent or cheese ? like odors, and many are caproic acid derivatives of female estrogens which accumulate in persperation of the feet and legs, especially when tight nylon hosery keeps these compounds, called pheremones, in the skin pores. Other apparel favoring the accumulation of pheremones consist of sneakers, nylon Peds, closed shoes and boots.

Apparel leading to the dissipation of these compounds are, sandals, especially with no stockings, cotton stockings (which draw perperation and accompanying pheremones away), and open sideband, slingback or open - toed shoes, often quite popular. The stinkiest feet I ever smelled lofted their erotic odor when the wearer removed her closed white pumps and the odor diffused from white L?Eggs Sheer Energy nylon pantyhose, which she was not reputed to wash very often. Abstaining from washing many types of nylon hosery prior to use in erotic footplay is often quite enhancing. Immersion or boiling shortly in 1-2% caproic acid (derived from goat?s milk) augments the pheremone odors, and a vigorous schedule of jogging, tennis or intense athletic activity prior to foot sex is also quite helpful.

Shoes most suitable for olfactory stimulation are usually closed pumps used at demanding occupations requiring a lot of walking, but waitress attire is often quite malodorous, and women bearing a slight excess of fat tissue may enhance the process. Of course a woman with an intractible fungal disorder, leading to severe feelings of social rejection, ought to view herself as a foot goddess to many men, and should be encouraged to post frequently for a most harmonious mate.

I have found that the use of nail polish or smalto, as it is called in Italian, may block oxygen flow to the nail and result in deformity without olfactory stimuli. Frequent pedicures are unnecessary, as they overly soften the foot and impair the rough texture of a moderately calloused foot which is optimum for direct foot ? foot or foot ? penile contact. Visually, the large, sprawling size 10 ? (euro size 42 and up) with high arches and wrinkled soles are the most alluring feet. Nails look and smell best when trimmed square accross the toe, with a little rounding at the sides to taste, and some overhang over the toe, so as to trap odorous material in between nail and toe.

Knowing what one likes is a far cry from finding it. In future contributions I will pose the following topics and expect a forthright and candid discussion.

1. Is there any active way to interest an otherwise neutral, obviously not hostile female to foot sex, foot smelling and footjobs, and maintain this interest?
2. Are women with such a predelection born and not made, is it just the luck of the draw?
3. Are any ethnic or national groups favored, on the basis of cultural factors? I happen to think Italian women are favorably inclined, but need some substantiation.
4. In what way do women derive pleasure and orgasmic climax when the male?s penis is masturbated by a footjob and is not in contact with any female arousable tissue. Can certain positions allow for mutual and reciprocal sexual enjoyment during a footjob?
5. To what extent are some (and which) females aroused by foot kissing and or smelling?
6. Is foot sex mostly a male perogative, with the female more or less passive or supportive, or do females exist with just as robust and pleasureable experiences in the context of active arousal by a male?s foot or feet?

In my opinion, there are varying degrees of attraction even amongst ourselves. I myself dislike stockings, I am not very interested in the trampling of a body by female feet, nor am I interested in foot domination. I however am interested in foot modeling, worshiping with an emphasis on soles.

I don't see foot fetishism as a problem infact I am glad I was able to discover this for myself. I can't recall how I began liking feet it's very vauge now, I only know it started when I was around the age of 15 or so. I wish their was someway I could pinpoint the origin though, I would love to know how it started. I do know that my liking for female legs dates even further than that of feet.

The hypothesis related to the odor of female feet is very interesting. I think it indeed has truth to it, but that it is conditional depending on the individual. Too powerful of a scent would turn me off. But a light scend would send me through the roof.

I look forward to discussing your future topics, they sound very interesting and would make for interesing posts.

the italian women thing I can agree with because I had a hot 5'11" one the other morning with size 10 feet that smelled great and the soles were curved and felt so good when I rubbed her caloused wrinkled soles along the underside of my weiner until I spurted a big one. Thank you all, especially ? for your helpful comments. I don?t to want to politicize this thing, it is dangerous enough, but it galls me. What might be more helpful is a way to attract women who are genunine interested in that for sexual pleasure, as my wife and I are at withs edn. Maybe it?s all for the best. Help!
