Open Question: Do cheer girls wear socks with their cheer shoes?

Please do not go off the deep end about foot fetish and all. I am just really curious because in high school and went to see my girlfriend perform they would sometimes change shoes and not have any socks on. Is this normal or is this just this group that did this?
