Open Question: Fetishes, why are some considered odd and others "normal"?

I have been reading some questions here on YA regarding guys who wonder if they are weird for having an attraction to female feet. I've been one of those guys for as long as I can remember and have endured ridicule both online and in person for it. I hear stuff like "ew you're weird" or "that's just creepy". I don't let people's opinions affect my admiration for feet but I am curious to understand the psychology behind the seemingly selective persecution. On the other hand, I have known several females who have the same attraction to a man's hands or even some have a thing for feet but then it seems to be ok. I asked the girl I knew who liked feet if she had ever been called creepy or weird for her "fetish" and she had not. Is it just a double standard thing where fetishes are ok for females but the same fetishes are weird & creepy for guys? I am posting to see feedback on this... I know that no single person is an authority on this, but if the replies are not evenly split down the middle, then maybe that can serve as some kind of indicator. This is also an open invitation to the token responder who claims that they know what I'm up to, or that I am a troll etc.... These are the same people who claim that any odd picture online has been photo shopped. I assure you the question is genuine but being an open forum, all replies are welcome.
