^ If your media player is having a problem, I'd suggest using
Media Player Classic since it is free and plays virtually every codec out there. Including DIVX, WMW, RealMedia, AVI, MPG, MPG2
Does not play flash .flv or quicktime .mov though. Plays many other codecs just fine though. And has a lot less CPU load hassle than other players like Windows Media Player for instance.
The choice for something like divx is for encoding efficiency to still be able to fit a larger lenght of video in a smaller file space. These clips are literally in the 30minute range and fairly high res, which is more efficient space encoding usage than the .wmv codec actually (although less compatible on a wider scale).
