Open Question: Is he gay? How do I ask?

So, a few weeks we started our first term Gym class. We all have to change in the locker rooms and I'm fine with this. Even though I have a male/female foot fetish, I don't get boners in the locker room because Im not gay (checking guys out and looking at chests and dicks) but yah their feet are nice. Not anything sexual though. Anyway, a week ago I was in the class and went into the locker room to use the restroom, and walked in and saw one of the guys in class (popular and athlectic like me, no one thinks he's gay though) was smelling my shoes. I instantly ran out of the locker room and went into the bathroom. I wasn't exactly turned on, but I thought it was awesome that another straight guy was smelling my shoes like was straight but had a foot fetish like me. So I didn't bring it up, but over the next two days he was like fooling around acting gay (like all guys do) bumping into guys and fake flirting as a joke. But he was doing it a lot more. And I was thinking that he was gay, but I instantly shooed away this thought. The next day my Nike Air Jordan's were missing from the locker room. I asked him if he knew where it was and he got all awkward like he was hiding something. Is he gay? Or is he straight like me but still has a foot fetish? Help? 10 points to best answer??? I don't want to be with him, but I want to know if he is gay. If he is straight like me I just want to talk to him about it like someone who is like me (straight but have a foot fetish) but if he is gay Im probally just going to tell him to give me my shoe back. I don't want a gay guy. I am not gay!!!
